By Sandy Sachs. March 31, 2010.

The tangerine is great because there are many health benefits to eating and snacking on tangerines. There are many major nutrients that can be found in a tangerine and there is a lot of research that backs the health benefits of eating the tangerine fruit.  Because the tangerine is in the same family as oranges both citrus fruits share a lot of the same kinds of health benefits.

For example,  both of these fruits are an amazing source of Vitamin C  and can provide 100 percent of the daily recommended amount of Vitamin C that you are supposed to get. The tangerine fruit and oranges are also extremely excellent sources of fiber and  Vitamin B as well as Vitamins B1, B2, and B6.

Citrus fruits  like tangerines  are very beneficial to the immune system as well as adrenal glands, the lens of the eye, the reproductive system, and many connective tissues. It is for these reasons that the tangerine and oranges are seen as very good for promoting a good healthy diet as well as good health. In the past studies have shown that the hesperidins in tangerines will actually lower high blood pressure as well as lowering high cholesterol. This makes these fruits the ideal fruit to eat if you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol. The falconoid in tangerines contains strong anti-inflammatory properties as well.

Studies have also proven and shown that consuming tangerines, oranges, and the juice from these two fruits is extremely effective in protecting at risk people against cancer and helps in fighting viral infections that may attack the body. This is because the pectin in these fruits contains properties similar to the pectin found in grapefruit. Pectin has been found to be effective in lowering cholesterol levels. This makes tangerines and oranges a great alternative to grapefruits. So people can either mix up their diets or if they do not like grapefruit, then the tangerine fruit and oranges are the next best option.

Due to the high concentration of Vitamin C and falconoid found in tangerines and oranges they are the ideal healthy fruit to eat. In fact people on a diet looking to cut out all kinds of sugars are usually able to still snack on the tangerine fruit and oranges in the morning because not only are they sweet but they are easy to digest are have extremely healthy properties that will promote good health during the duration of your diet.
