{"id":41018,"date":"2014-06-06T18:25:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-06T18:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.halegroves.com\/blog\/recipe\/fish-soup-sarasota\/"},"modified":"2022-02-11T12:02:36","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T12:02:36","slug":"fish-soup-sarasota","status":"publish","type":"cuisine-recipe","link":"https:\/\/www.halegroves.com\/blog\/recipe\/fish-soup-sarasota\/","title":{"rendered":"Fish Soup Sarasota Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">INGREDIENTS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">2 tablespoons vegetable oil<br \/>  1 cup sliced celery<br \/>  1 large onion, sliced (1 cup)<br \/>  2 cloves garlic, sliced<br \/>  2 pounds fish bones or heads<br \/>  1 quart water<br \/>  10 peppercorns<br \/>  1 teaspoon dried leaf thyme, crumbled<br \/>  3\/4 teaspoon salt<br \/>  1\/2 teaspoon fennel seeds<br \/>  1 1\/2 pounds halibut, cod or haddock, cut in 1-inch chunks<br \/>  1 1\/2 cups<span style=\"color: rgb(255, 204, 0);\"> Hale Grapefruit Juice<\/span><br \/>  1 cup bottled clam juice<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">PREPARATION<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small\">Assorted Garnishes:<br \/>  <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: small\">Grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, cooked pasta, garlic croutons, cooked shellfish, chopped tomatoes, sliced black olives<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">In large pot or heavy kettle, heat oil; saute&acute; celery, onion and garlic until tender. Add fish bones, water, peppercorns, thyme, salt and fennel seeds, bring to a boil. Cover. Reduce heat, simmer 30 minutes. Skim off &quot;film&quot; that rises to the top. Strain broth through a sieve. Return broth to pot. Add fish chunks, grapefruit juice and clam juice. Simmer 10 minutes until fish is cooked.
