{"id":41052,"date":"2013-04-24T08:43:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T08:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.halegroves.com\/blog\/recipe\/moon-gate-orange-chicken\/"},"modified":"2022-02-11T12:02:38","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T12:02:38","slug":"moon-gate-orange-chicken","status":"publish","type":"cuisine-recipe","link":"https:\/\/www.halegroves.com\/blog\/recipe\/moon-gate-orange-chicken\/","title":{"rendered":"Moon Gate Orange Chicken Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">INGREDIENTS<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">2 <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Hale oranges<br \/>  <\/span>4 green onions, cut in 1\/4-inch long pieces<br \/>  1\/3 cup soy sauce<br \/>  1\/4 cup sugar<br \/>  1 cup <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Hale orange juice<br \/>  <\/span>vegetable oil for deep frying<br \/>  3 pounds boned, skinned chicken breasts and thighs, cut in bite-sized pieces<br \/>  2 tablespoons vegetable oil<br \/>  1 tbsp ginger shredded fresh, or 1 tsp. ground<br \/>  1\/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #ff9900\">PREPARATION<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">Score peel of 1 Hale orange in quarter sections; remove peel. Remove all white membrane from peel; cut peel into long, thin strips. Peel second Hale orange; section both oranges. Reserve sections and orange peel strips. Combine green onions, soy sauce, sugar and Hale orange juice in small bowl; set aside. Pour oil to depth of 3 inches into large, heavy saucepan. Heat to 375 degrees on deep fat thermometer. Fry chicken pieces, a small amount at a time, about 4 minutes or until pieces lose their pink color. Remove with slotted spoon; drain on paper towels. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in large skillet or wok. Add ginger, hot pepper sauce and orange peel strips; stir fry 1 1\/2 minutes. Add chicken pieces; stir fry 3 minutes. Add Hale orange juice mixture; stir-fry 3 minutes. Transfer to heated serving dish. Garnish with orange sections.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">YIELD: 8 servings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">Serving Suggestion:<br \/>  <\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma\"><span style=\"font-size: small\">Serve with snow peas and canned water chestnuts, drained and sliced.
