Navel Oranges Add a Refreshing Twist to These Fall Drinks

One of the best parts about fall is delicious foods and beverages made with apples, spices, pumpkins and of course delicious navel oranges. Making festive drinks for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas is half the fun of celebrating those holidays. Every family has their own traditional foods and beverages that are served during that time and often those recipes are handed down from generation to generation. If you don’t have your own fall drink traditions or if you want to expand your recipe collection try making some of these delectable fall drinks that are all made with navel oranges, grapefruit or other light and healthy citrus fruit:

Fall Breeze – This cocktail is especially popular at Thanksgiving because it’s the perfect complement to savory game dishes and rich, creamy desserts. To make this cocktail just combine, in equal parts, a high quality vodka, fresh orange juice from navel oranges or Valencia oranges, fresh apple juice, and cranberry juice. The beautiful ruby color and refreshing taste will delight your friends and family.

Spiced Cider – Spiced apple cider can be made in an alcoholic or non alcoholic version. If you wish to add alcohol you can add vodka, gin or rum depending on what flavors you like. To make the spiced cider mix fresh apple cider with the juice of several navel oranges, brown sugar, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon. Boil all of them together until thoroughly mixed. Garnish with candied orange rind and cinnamon sticks and serve warm. This is a great drink to make for the family on a cold fall night or to make for holiday guests. Serve a light pound cake with orange or grapefruit preserves with this delicious fall drink after dinner as the perfect complement to a hearty fall meal.

Pumpkin Passion – This unique cocktail will turn heads at Thanksgiving this year. To make this festive fall cocktail you will need to mix the juice of navel oranges with pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla sugar, Frangelico or Bailey’s Irish Cream, nutmeg and cinnamon. The best way to make this cocktail is to mix the puree, orange juice, and spices in a blender ahead of time and keep it chilled. That will allow the flavors time to mix and it will help keep everything fresh. Add a shot of liquor when someone orders one and serve. Or you can serve a non alcoholic version by substituting milk for the alcohol.
