Navel oranges, like grapefruits, can add a dash of flavor and a lot of healthy vitamins and minerals to your breakfast. Making a special breakfast is easy when you use navel oranges to dress up everyday dishes. You can also create elegant breakfasts whenever you have company staying over or have people over for holiday breakfasts. Making sweet and delicious breakfast dishes using oranges, tangerines and other citrus fruits is a great way to give the people you love a healthy breakfast that also tastes like a decadent treat. When you want to surprise your family and friends with a delicious breakfast using navel oranges try making one of these popular breakfast dishes:

Orange Cinnamon Rolls – Adding a little taste of citrus to traditional cinnamon rolls will make your breakfast tastier and it is quite easy to do. Mix up a batch of cinnamon roll dough the way that you normally would but use the juice from fresh squeezed navel oranges instead of water. When the batter is mixed add a tablespoon or two of orange zest to the batter. Bake as you normally would. When the rolls are finished you can ice them with a simple citrus syrup of sugar, orange juice, and water boiled together or simply garnish with one or two segments of orange or tangerine. This unique twist on a classic breakfast dish is perfect when you have overnight guests.

Orange Waffles – Waffles are a beloved breakfast, and you can use waffles to make dozens of different delicious breakfasts. To make a simple orange waffle breakfast that would also be a great dessert, make waffles the way that you normally would, but add a tablespoon of orange zest to the batter. Once the waffles are cooked top them with fresh orange marmalade or orange jelly. If you don’t want to eat that much sugar at breakfast use orange segments to top the waffles.

Orange Marmalade Stuffed French Toast – This classic orange breakfast is wonderful for Christmas breakfast. Serve it this year and start your own tradition. To make it first you need to mix cream cheese, fresh squeezed juice from navel oranges or Valencia oranges, orange marmalade and honey until the mixture has a thick, jelly like consistency. Then take two pieces of high quality bread and spread the mixture on each piece of bread. Assemble the two pieces of bread like you would a sandwich. Dip the entire sandwich in a batter made of eggs, orange juice, and milk and then fry in a skillet like traditional French Toast. Top with powdered sugar and you have a scrumptious holiday breakfast.
