Navel Oranges are a Low Calorie Treat

One of the hardest things about trying to lose weight is not eating sweets but navel oranges are the perfect solution to that dieting dilemma. Super sweet and delicious navel oranges are also very low in calories. A medium sized navel orange has about 80 calories, or about one third the calories of a candy bar and about half of the calorie of one serving of cookies. Just as tasty as chocolate treats these low calorie snacks will satisfy those cravings without ruining your whole day of dieting. Have navel oranges for dessert and for snacks during the day when you would normally have a sweet coffee drink or a candy bar. The vitamins and minerals in the navel oranges will give you a natural lift without the sugar crash that usually come with coffee or chocolate sweets. That’s because your body can easily process the natural sugars in navel oranges. Your body can’t process refined sugars very well, which is why you get an energy spike and then an energy crash if you rely on coffee or sweets to give you energy. Naval oranges, like grapefruits and other citrus fruits, are also full of fiber which will help you stay full until your next meal.

Cutting out just a few hundred calories a day can lead to significant weight loss over time, especially if you’re exercising regularly too. Instead of having toast for your breakfast have some protein rich eggs and an orange or other citrus fruit. Navel oranges are one of the lowest calorie fruits you can eat but grapefruits and other citrus fruits are also low in calories. The fiber in the orange will keep you full until lunch which means you can skip your mid morning snack and save yourself a couple of hundred calories. After dinner don’t reach for the cookies or other dessert reach for the navel oranges instead. Giving your body a shot of Vitamin C and B Complex vitamins will help you rest better at night and help your body repair any damage caused during the day. Skipping dessert and eating a low calorie orange instead will save you more calories. Before you know it you’ll be cutting calories left and right by substituting low calorie navel oranges for meals and snacks. And once you start doing that you will start losing a lot of weight.
