How to Make Holiday Punch with Honeybell Oranges

By: The Hale Groves Team | On: | Category: Fruit Facts

This year delight your holiday guests with delicious punches and cocktails made from Honeybell oranges. Honeybells are the perfect citrus fruit to use to make beverages because they are so full of super sweet juice. Make sure that you order your Honeybells early though. Unlike grapefruits and other citrus fruits Honeybells have a very limited growing season. They are only available from late December through early February so if you want to make sure that you have plenty of Honeybells for holiday drinks order early so you will get the first shipments that go out. Often entire seasons of Honeybells sell out before the first fruit is even picked.

The difficulty in getting Honeybells makes holiday Honeybell punch that much more special. So if you want to surprise and delight your guests this year try making some of these delicious holiday punches with Honeybell oranges:

Cranberry Honeybell Punch – This beautiful and festive punch is deliciously refreshing. You can add some vodka to it to make an alcoholic punch but it also makes a tasty non alcoholic punch for kids and non drinkers. Simply mix some cranberry juice cocktail with the fresh squeezed juice of some Honeybell oranges, mix in some ginger ale, and serve. Make sure that you use a chilled punch bowl and chill all the juices and the soda before mixing. To keep the punch cold add some frozen cranberry juice cocktail concentrate to the mix or make a Honeybell sorbet and add that. Sliced Honeybell oranges look beautiful as a garnish against the deep red punch.

Orange Champagne Punch – This alcoholic punch is very light and is great for holiday brunches and breakfasts. Make this for Christmas morning and your guests will love the light citrus taste as they open gifts. To make this punch you will need the juice from some Honeybell oranges, frozen strawberry daiquiri mix, champagne, and a chilled punch bowl. Pour the champagne into the punch bowl and mix in the frozen strawberry daiquiri mix. It will thaw throughout the party to a slushy mixture infusing taste and chill into the punch. Mix in the Honeybell juice and serve with sliced oranges, tangerines and strawberries as a garnish. For a pretty finish you can wet the rim of the champagne flutes and dip them into sugar then add a strawberry or an orange slice to the glass as garnish before pouring in the punch.
