Even though most people don’t think of salads as being the stars of a meal using delicious and fresh ingredients to make salad dressings is a great way to make salads more fun and interesting to eat. Especially in the winter, when salad greens are not at their peak, it can be difficult to make this summery food appealing. Instead of globbing on pre-made dressings that are high in fat and calories and filled with preservatives you can use Honeybells and fresh spices and herbs to create your own delicious salad dressings that will taste like summer. Bright, tangy Honeybell tangelo juice is a great substitute for orange juice in salad dressings because it adds more dimension to the flavor. And since Honeybells are only available for about a month in the dead of winter using Honeybell tangelos to make salad dressing is also a great way to beat the winter blues and remind yourself that summer will come again. Here are some easy to make and very tasty Honeybell tangelo salad dressings:

Honeybell Rosemary Vinaigrette – This simple dressing is easy to make and doesn’t have a lot of ingredients so you can make it on short notice. All you need is the fresh squeezed juice of one Honeybell orange, some olive oil, white wine vinegar, salt, paprika, and dried mustard. Mix the Honeybell juice with about a quarter of a cup of olive oil and a tablespoon of white wine vinegar. Add in one to two teaspoons of the herbs to taste and use on a fresh green salad. Your family will love the sweet and tangy taste.

Honeybell Ginger Dressing – to make this exotic citrus dressing start with about a quarter of a cup of freshly squeezed Honeybell juice. Mix that with about four tablespoons of olive oil or vegetable oil. Then add in chopped scallions, black pepper, garlic, grated Honeybell zest, and some peeled and minced ginger to taste. Mix them all together and you’ll have a delicious dressing that can also be used a tasty marinade for savory dishes. Any of these salad dressings that use Honeybells are great on dull winter salads but the Honeybell Ginger dressing is the chef’s choice when you want to serve a simple but elegant salad that your friends and family will love. If you’re searching for just the right dressing for your holiday table this edgy Asian inspired salad dressing is the one to use.
