Eat Temple Oranges to Lose Weight

By: The Hale Groves Team | On: | Category: Healthy Eating

By the time we are old enough to tie our shoes, most of us know that fresh fruits and vegetables are good for us. Why then do only one in three of us follow our parent’s sage advice? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most of us deserve a spanking, or at least a timeout.

Now, you might wonder why the CDC is worrying about what Americans put in their mouths. Shouldn’t they be thinking about anthrax or small pox or AIDS? Normally they would be. But when obesity was declared an epidemic in America, they turned their attention to fat instead of deadly airborne toxins.

Believe it or not, obesity is now the number one cause of preventable death in the United States, ahead of cancer! More and more patients are dying from weight-related diseases and conditions each year. Cancer, heart disease, and cases of type 2 diabetes have all skyrocketed in recent years. How and why is a natural, necessary process killing us?

Two out of every three Americans are overweight. One in three is officially obese. This didn’t happen overnight and there is no single suspect or culprit. As much as we might like to blame the fast food industry, the drive-thru isn’t solely responsible. The truth is that Americans are snacking more than ever before. Nutritionists tell us that the average man is consuming 500 more calories than he did just a quarter of century ago. Worse yet, he is exercising less than he did in the past. It is no wonder the national waistband is expanding.

Is there a solution? We believe there is. But before we begin, we should dispense with the diet talk. Though it multibillion-dollar industry, diets don’t work. Hey, don’t take our word for it. The experts tell us that 95 percent of people who lose weight on diets gain it back within a year. In reality, those figures are probably too generous.

The key to losing weight is eating the right foods, not less food. Any program that asks you to cut out the calories is unsustainable, because you cannot and will not do it forever. Snacking is as America as apple pie and it is the main reason why we are gaining weight. The logical solution is to find healthier food on which to snack.

Instead of munching on greasy potato chips or doughy pretzels, eat some Temple oranges. Oranges are one of nature’s healthiest and most filling fruits. Don’t believe us? Here’s a simple test. Try to eat more than two Temple oranges at a time. We dare you! Of course, you can consume an entire 900 hundred calorie bag of corn chips, but fruit is more filling. Not to mention the fact that it has dietary fiber, which makes you go to the bathroom.

Eating fruit as a snack will help you cut calories and will curb your appetite. Over time you will find that when you consume a few Temple oranges you will no longer crave the greasy chips or sugary ice creams that are responsible for your recent weight gain.
