This Easter surprise your loved ones with gourmet Indian River citrus fruit baskets instead of traditional candy baskets. Famous Indian River citrus fruit will be a delicious surprise instead of baskets filled with high calorie and high fat chocolate. Sweet Indian River oranges and grapefruits are a unique gift that your loved ones will really appreciate, especially if they are supposed to limit the amount of processed sugar they eat due to medical conditions or lifestyle choices. Giving fruit as a holiday gift is a very thoughtful thing to do, and giving Indian River fruit shows your friends and family how much you love them.

Indian River citrus fruit is the best in the world. For over a hundred year people have sought out citrus fruits that are grown in the Indian River district. In fact, in the early 1900s the growers who owned fruit groves in the Indian River district banded together to get the government to force other Florida businesses to stop saying that their fruit was grown in the Indian River area when it wasn’t. But other businesses were claiming their fruit came from the rich Indian River valley because people were clamoring for the citrus fruit that came from the Indian River area due to the rich taste and sweetness of that fruit.

One of the reasons why Indian River fruit is so good is that it never is exposed to the harsh weather conditions that can strike other Florida groves. It’ s not often that freezing temperatures or storms damage the Florida citrus crop but it can happen. When the fruit is exposed to super cold temperatures the fruit can become damaged and bitter or it may even be ruined altogether. The Indian River citrus groves are far enough from the ocean that they are never exposed to damaging wind or rain from storms, and if it ever gets cold in the area the farmers in the groves simply use the warm waters of the Indian River to flood the groves. The water raises the temperature in the area several degrees which can keep the fruit from freezing and warm up the air around the groves to prevent damage. When the danger has passed the water is allowed to recede.

Easter is a time of renewal and a celebration of spring. There’s no better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than with an Indian River citrus fruit basket full of delicious sweet citrus fruit.
