Fruit Delivered for Your Health
People are supposed to consume a minimum of five fresh servings of fruit and vegetables each and every day. Unfortunately, most Americans fall short of that mark…and it isn’t even close! Only about a third of us eat apples, oranges, and tomatoes on a regular basis. More often than not, folks are replacing these salubrious snacks with ones that are charitably referred to as “junk.”
Packed with fat, salt, and sugar, these “foods” provide little more than fast energy. In other words, we digest and expend the calories they contain in short order. That’s why a bag of potato chips or pretzels doesn’t fill you up. They simply don’t have the vitamins and nutrients the human body needs to keep going. What are they?
Fiber
Although it is not an actual dietary component because it cannot be digested, fiber is one of the healthiest things we can put in our bodies. It is essentially a laxative that helps us go to the bathroom, which cleans out our digestive tracts and removes toxins and other undesirable elements. Because it is typically found in fresh produce, most Americans don’t get enough fiber in their diets. Oranges, grapefruits, and other members of the citrus family are good sources of fiber. The experts recommend about 30 grams of it each day, and a grapefruit provides about fifteen percent of that amount.
Vitamin C
There’s a reason why sailors ate citrus fruits on long journeys during the Age of Discovery. A lack of Vitamin C causes our bodies to breakdown and compromises our health. It is a vital nutrient without which we cannot survive. A single orange gives us enough Vitamin C to get us through the day. Although citrus fruit juices are also a good source of the nutrient, fresh fruit delivered is a better one. Not to mention the fact that it is much lower in calories because fruit delivered contains less sugar!
Health benefits
We can examine and explore all of the supposedly healthy components of fresh fruit delivered…but what does it all mean? No one disputes the assertion that esculent fruits and vegetables are good for us. But to take advantages of the myriad of health benefits, we must consume them in their natural form, i.e., fresh. Canned, juiced, or frozen fruits are not nearly as good for us as fruit delivered to your front door in fresh form.
Low in calories and fat and cholesterol free, fruit shipping services sell produce that has been proven to lower the risk of certain chronic diseases, such as heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer. These sweet treats contain only about half the amount of calories and sugars as the fruits you find in canned, frozen, or juiced form.
