Hale Groves’ All Seasons Fruit Club™ lets you choose a subscription for three, six, nine or twelve months, so you can provide healthy, high-quality, in-season fruit fresh from our farms and full of incredible flavor and beneficial nutrients all through your or their pregnancy and beyond.
During pregnancy, your body urges you to eat more food. However, to support the development of the baby inside you, you need to have a healthy and balanced diet. A balanced diet will help you and your baby stay healthy throughout your pregnancy and minimize risk and complications during and even after birth. Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of your diet…without them, a pregnant mom’s nutritional intake is incomplete. A monthly fruit subscription is a perfect way to get your fruit requirements during pregnancy. It also saves moms-to-be the hassle and expense of shopping for fruit themselves!
Whether you’ve recently learned you’re pregnant and want to do something good for you and your baby, or you know someone who just learned she’s expecting a new baby, a monthly fruit subscription from Hale Groves is a perfect choice. You can start and end your subscription at any time, too.
Listed below are the fruits available in a standard 12-month All Seasons Fruit Club™ subscription from Hale Groves, along with how they are beneficial to an expectant mom’s health:
- Ruby Red Grapefruit. Arrive in January. Red or pink grapefruit is beneficial for pregnant women because it contains potassium, which is an essential nutrient. Grapefruit is also low in calories and contains other minerals, such as iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and sodium, that can support the health of both the mother and the baby. Grapefruit also contains fiber, which can help with heart health and gut health.
- Honey-Sweet Tangerines. Arrive in February. Tangerines are a good choice for pregnant women because they contain many nutrients, including vitamin C, folate, potassium, fiber, and vitamin B. Folate is crucial for the healthy development of the baby’s neural tube and potassium is an essential electrolyte for maintaining proper fluid balance in the body. Also, healthy fruit choices that include citrus fruits like tangerines may help pregnant women manage gestational diabetes.
- Hale Honeybells. Arrive in March. A type of tangelo, Honeybells are a delicious cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. They are high in vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and folic acid, and also contain antioxidants and vitamin A, making them a very healthy fruit for pregnant women to enjoy.
- Cara Cara Navel Oranges. Arrive in April. Cara Cara oranges are good for pregnant women because they are a good source of folate and potassium, which are important for pregnant and breastfeeding women. They are also low in acid, which may make them a good snack for pregnant women who experience acid reflux.
- Grove Navel Oranges. Arrive in May. We’ve already talked about the importance of folate, a B vitamin, for pregnant women, and oranges are a great way to get a big dose of folate naturally. Our bodies use folate to divide cells and make DNA. Oranges have also been shown to reduce symptoms of morning sickness in some pregnant women.
- Peaches. Arrive in June. Peaches are high in vitamin C, which plays an important role in the absorption of iron and the formation of an unborn baby’s bones, teeth, cartilage, blood vessels and muscles. Peaches also are a rich source of folate, which helps protect the fetus from neural tube defects, and potassium, which reduces the risk of crams, edema and hypertension in pregnant women. High levels of magnesium in peaches also help reduce stress anxiety – something expectant moms do well to avoid.
- Bing Cherries. Arrive in July. Cherries contain many nutrients that can benefit pregnant women, including potassium (which helps maintain blood pressure levels), vitamin C (an antioxidant that’s recommended for people with diabetes), anthocyanins (a pigment that can promote brain health, treat inflammation, and protect neural cells in the developing newborn) and iron (which can help improve blood issues and maintain energy levels). Cherries also help promote blood flow to the placenta, provide oxygen and nutrition to the baby, and boost both mother and child’s immune system.
- Tropical Mangos. Arrive in August. Mangos are a rich source of vitamins A, C, and D, as well as beta-carotene, fiber, potassium, and folic acid. Mangoes are also high in antioxidants and bioflavonoids, which can help boost the immune system. The fiber and potassium in mangoes can help with constipation and replenish energy, and they can also help with digestive issues that are common in early pregnancy.
- Bartlett Pears. Arrive in September. Pears are another healthy choice for pregnant women as they are rich in fiber (which helps with constipation and may reduce the risk of diabetes and preeclampsia), potassium (which is shown to regulate blood pressure), folate (which helps prevent birth defects) and vitamin C, an essential nutrient for a healthy pregnancy.
- Orchard Fresh Apples. Arrive in October. Apples are a great snacking choice during pregnancy, as they contain many vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, iron, calcium, and phosphorus, as well as dietary fiber. Vitamin C helps strengthen the immune system and supports iron absorption for healthy blood circulation. Apples also contain B-complex vitamins, such as B-6, thiamin, and riboflavin, and phytonutrients. The calcium in apples is essential for a baby’s healthy bone development, while the insoluble fiber in apples helps reduce intestinal disorders, promote healthy digestion and maintain a healthy metabolism. Another must-have as it can enhance the immune system of your baby.
- Grove Navel Oranges. Arrive in November. Here’s another chance to enjoy our farm-fresh Grove Navels as they come into season! Probably the best source of vitamin C, oranges can help lower high blood pressure and is also a good source of potassium.
- Holiday Golds. Arrive in December. Like all citrus fruits, Holiday Golds (a type of mandarin) are a good choice for pregnant women because they contain vitamin C, folate, potassium, fiber, and vitamin B, all of which contribute to a healthy baby and more comfortable pregnancy. Due to their small size, Holiday Golds are also a tasty and refreshing snack that won’t leave an expectant mom feeling weighed down.
Optimal nutrition is essential for expectant moms and babies alike. A healthy diet will ensure that both mother and child are fully prepared for healthy childbirth and ensure a healthy head start for the child as he or she grows.
