Choosing the Right Fruit for Gifts

By: The Hale Groves Team | On: | Category: Gift Ideas

There are many occasions when you may wish to send fruit gifts, but the key question is which ones are appropriate. Citrus fruits are very common and popular fruits for gifts, but people have different tastes. This means you have to make sure you choose fruit gifts that appeal to the recipient. This begins with learning what each person on your gift list enjoys and work based on that premise. Do not make any assumptions unless you have no way to find out the information you need. For instance, if you are sending fruit to customers or vendors, you will not know the type of fruit they enjoy.

It can be difficult to choose fruit gifts for those you do not do well, but if you are ordering from a vendor, you can ask them to include the most popular selections. Most fruit vendors have specific fruits they include in common gifts they ship. If you are unsure what to send, the best choice is to allow the fruit vendor to ship what they ordinarily ship for people who have no specific preference for the fruit in the fruit gifts. For those who have a preference, the process can be easier provided their selections are in season in the area where they are shipping.

One of the things you want to consider when you are preparing to send fruit gifts is the health condition of the person to whom you are sending the gift. Some people are allergic to some of the citrus fruit that is ordinarily included in fruit baskets or they have health conditions that prevent them from eating certain fruits. One of the most common citrus fruits that may need to be eliminated because of health conditions or medication a person may be taking is grapefruit. While grapefruit is a health fruit that is believed to possess fat burning properties, it can be unhealthy for people on some medications.

Lack of knowledge about a person’s fruit preferences should not deter you from sending fruit for gifts. You will not always know what each individual likes, but you can use your best judgment and hope for the best. It is a much easier decision to make when you are sending to someone you know personally rather than to people with whom you work, vendors or customers. No matter what decision you make there will always be someone who can eat any fruit your recipient cannot eat or doesn’t care to eat.
