Clementines- So Much More Than a Tasty Snack

By: The Hale Groves Team | On: | Category: Gift Ideas

The beauty of a clementine is that it is easy to peel, seedless and tastes great. It is a handy alternative to its cousin the orange, which takes time and dedication in order to enjoy. Clementines are thus a perfect alternative for the instant gratification customers. They are also small enough to throw in a purse, lunch bag or backpack when you are on the go with less of a mess than an orange and arguably a better taste!

It is not only a super handy and tasty treat, like many of its citrus family members, it is a great friend when you need to eliminate odor or clean up a mess and leave a fresh scent behind. Try these clementine handy ideas for example: Want a fresh and natural odor eliminator, leave the rinds of your tasty clementine in a bowl of hot water or boil it on your stovetop to release the scents throughout your house when you have guests. Or if you just looking to relax and feel refreshed, place the clementine rinds in a small bowl next to your bed, on your office desk or your poolside chair to refresh your sense, relax and calm your nerves.

Need to clean up that messy counter with sticky residue? Try mixing clementine juice and a bit of white vinegar and spray down those counters to cut grease, eliminate stains and refresh the scent of your kitchen or bathroom counters. Does your closet stink? Do as they did in the colonial days by using a clementine and inserting whole cloves into the skin of the clementine. Cover the fruit and clove ball with a mesh bag or that old pair of nylon pantyhose (you know, the ones with the holes that not even clear nail polish can save) and place it in your closet for a few hours up to a few days. Is there a bad smell coming from your garbage disposal again? Cut up a clementine into medium sized chunks and throw them into the garbage disposal to clean the blades and eliminate odor from within your kitchen sink.

These may all be typical cleaning tricks you can find in a do it yourself magazine or an all natural green life magazine, but what many people do not know is that leaving a little bit of clementine, lemon or lime juice behind on a plant your cat likes to chew on will keep your animal from grazing on your favorite bamboo sprigs or rose leaves! It’s amazing what such a small fruit can do!
