Homemade Cherry Facial Masks

No matter how much you love to eat and cook with cherries, there always seem to be a few extras lingering in the bottom of the bowl. Put them to good use and pamper your skin at the same time. With a few simple ingredients from your kitchen and a handful of cherries, you’ll feel like you’ve spent the day at the spa. And your skin will look like it, too.

Cherries have anti-inflammatory properties which make them an excellent ingredient for a wide range of skin conditions. Inflammation can cause redness, breakouts, and can exasperate other prevalent skin issues like rosacea and dermatitis. Using cherries in a regular skincare routine can help to reduce redness and keep skin looking clear and healthy.

It can be as easy as applying mashed cherries to clean skin a few times a week or you can add other soothing ingredients like the ones you’ll find in the recipes below. But remember to remove the pits first. Even though you can buy exfoliating scrubs that contain crushed stone fruit pits, using abrasive products can actually do more damage than good, especially to sensitive skin. If you have oily skin, using sour cherries can help to control excess oil and reduce breakouts.

The number one key to beautiful, glowing, healthy-looking skin is a regular skincare routine. Even washing your face twice a day can be more beneficial than getting a facial once a month. You can incorporate any of these homemade cherry recipes into your skincare routine a couple times a week to see amazing results.
