Have You ever Googled Citrus Before?
Have you ever gone onto the internet and searched random key words that pop into your head? Well, it is interesting what you will find when you think of broad topics such as the word citrus. Many people think of citrus and think of the family of fruits such as oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits, tangerines, mandarins, pomelos and the hundreds of hybrids that fall into the citrus family of fruits.
But there is so much more associated with citrus then one might imagine. There are hundreds of pages that come up including citrus themed restaurants, the university, the city and their local news paper, and or course hundreds of recipes. What dominates the first dozen or so pages is the Florida citrus market though. Florida oranges, Florida orange juices, Florida ruby red grapefruits, Florida citrus fruits, these are all highlighted and wait, of course the many pages related to citrus from Wikis also pop up. What is shocking is that there are very few pages about the nutritional value of these tangy and delicious fruits. It appears that you must search for specific types of fruits by name, for example ruby red grapefruit, to get the nutritional value information to be included in the first few pages of your search engine, or of course expanding your key word search to include nutritional value.
If you look at the images page you get hundreds of mouth watering photos and animated pictures of the most popular fruits such as the orange, lime, grapefruit and lemon. The decorative combinations of fruit photography with perfect arrangements of fruit, some sliced open to see the juicy delicious and nutritious flesh of the product they are trying to sell. But if you think about it, fruit art has thousands of years of tradition. If you wander the aisles of your local art gallery or a national or international gallery, you are bound to see paintings of cornucopias, fruit baskets or lone pieces of fruit to show off the artistic talent of such and such artist.
As you scroll through the list you will find photos or websites for companies that sell products that have orange scented perfumes, grapefruit body scrubs, tangerine scented candles, lemon scented cleaning products, mandarin scented bathing salts, potted key lime plants for your living room, pomelo colored paint for your dining room, and hundreds of citrus inspired recipe photos and recipes.
While searching you begin to realize the shear grandeur of the citrus market on the local, national and international market and begin to realize even more the power and importance of the Floridian economy and market for the United States of America. It is an inspiring exercise that might get you more involved in purchasing products from our very own country instead of imported goods.
