generations. These alarming increases all correspond to the rise in obesity.

America is now the fattest nation on earth. One-third of her adult citizens are officially obese ant two-thirds are merely overweight. But what has happened to her children is even more disconcerting. Childhood obesity rates have trebled in just thirty years! As a result, the rates of obesity-related diseases have skyrocketed. Ninety percent of the new cases of type II diabetes, for example, have been linked to obesity.

Why are we failing?

The diet and weight loss industry in America is enormous. It’s worth about sixty billion dollars per annum! In addition to exercise and special plans, about fifty million Americans will go on a diet this year. Of those who lose a significant amount of weight, 95 percent of them will gain it back within one
year. Simply put, diets don’t work because they don’t address the root problem of American obesity.

There may be many culprits, but snacking is the most egregious. Americans are now getting about twenty percent of their daily calories from snacks. Eating six hundred extra calories of pretzels, ice cream, or chips while we watch our favorite shows or the big game is expanding the national waistline. Snacking is now a popular hobby for millions of Americans.

Now, we aren’t saying we can change the eating habits of a nation overnight. But at the very least, we can recommend healthier snacks. That is where dried fruit baskets online come in.
