If you entertain a lot you’re probably sick of putting out the same old party decorations. For your next get together get creative and add a fruit arrangement or two to the decorations. Fruit arrangements are a great way to brighten up a room as well as provide a great healthy snack option for people who might want to eat something low calorie or all natural instead of traditional party foods. You can use fruit assortments and fruit baskets to enhance the theme of the event and add a really creative flair. Since fruit will hold up well in any temperature it doesn’t matter if the party is in the middle of the hot summer or the cold winter you can count on fresh citrus fruit to stay looking and tasting great all night. Here are some tips from expert party planners on how to use a fruit assortment to add a new twist to your party decor:

Set up a low cal table decorated with fresh fruit – Make some low calorie yogurt dips and have a fruit arrangement on the table so that your guests can dip some low calorie fruit instead of eating cheese or chocolate fondue. A large basket of assorted citrus fruits will look very inviting and refreshing, especially if you place it in the center of a large bowl, like a punch bowl. Fill the bowl with ice. Put the assorted low calorie dips in large dessert cups or in cocktail glasses sitting in the ice so that they stay chilled. The fruit in the basket will be above the ice and will stay room temperature and will taste delicious dipped into the chilled dips.

Set up a “Make Your Own Cocktail ” bar – This will eliminate the need for a bartender and let your guests have a lot of fun making their own creations. On a long table or bar set out a large fresh fruit assortment, one that includes oranges, grapefruits, and tropical fruits. Make sure there is a juicer near the fruit so that your guests can create fresh citrus juices. You can rent one at a party supply store if you don’t have one. Set out a couple of blenders and some chilled vodka, rum, gin and wine. Set out a selection of different cocktail glasses and garnishes like pieces of fresh citrus fruit, paper umbrellas, and swizzle sticks with fresh fruit cut outs on top. Your guests choose the fruit they want, mix it with an alcohol of their choice, and create their own delicious fruity drinks.
