Honey Grapefruit with Banana

The Hale Groves Team

Fruit is generally delicious and nutritious with some varieties having better qualities than others. Grapefruits and bananas are two of the most loved of all fruit. They both have unique flavors that you cannot find in other foods and they are filled with vitamins and minerals that promote overall health.

Bananas are perfect in that they are tasty, packed with nutrients to help the body, small enough to take with you, convenient because of their protective peel, and because they are always available and quite affordable. Let us talk about taste. Unripe bananas have a “grassy” bland taste that changes as they mature. As bananas ripen they develop a distinct fruity flavor that is accompanied by pineapple, melon, clove, and candy flavors. When the peel turns brown the flavor turns into a combination of vanilla, rum, and honey.

Grapefruits are portable citrus fruits you can easily take with you anywhere you go. You can have them for breakfast, a snack, or eat them as dessert after meals. The flavors of grapefruits vary from citrus acidic, to palatable bittersweet, to refreshingly sweet. They are a great source of vitamins A and C, both good for developing cells and boosting the immune system. They also contain 92 percent water and tons of soluble fiber which can help make you feel full longer than other food, thus help curb your appetite and aid in weight loss. Grapefruits are also good for the heart because the nutrients in them can help lower bad cholesterol, and at the same time prevent fats and plaques from developing along the arteries of the heart, which can cause heart diseases.
