How to Choose Fruit Arrangements as Gifts

By: The Hale Groves Team | On: | Category: Gift Ideas

If you are looking to purchase fruit arrangements as gifts, one of the first things you want to do is make sure you choose fruits that are firm with a good coloring. It is a good idea to become educated in how to choose the specific fruits you will be using in your fruit arrangements so you don’t make any mistakes. When you are giving fruit arrangements as gifts, you don’t want to take a chance the recipient receives an arrangement with fruits that are wilted, discolored and/or do not have the proper juice content.

It is important before you prepare and send fruit arrangements to know the preference and health concerns of the recipients. For instance, you don’t want to send fruit arrangements with grapefruit to people who are unable to eat it nor do you want to include strawberries in fruit arrangements for people who have allergies to them. While you may not always to be to accommodate everyone’s individual needs and preferences, the recipients will appreciate your gifts more when you at least make the effort to choose ingredients in your fruit arrangements that they will be able to enjoy.

Even though you may enjoy the idea of including various fruits and other ingredients in your fruit arrangements, if you know one of your recipients doesn’t like certain fruits, you don’t want to include them. For instance, some people like the idea of including tropical fruits such as kiwi and mango in their fruit arrangements, but there are some people who just don’t like the flavor of those particular fruits. Likewise, if you want to include nuts make sure you include varieties you know your recipient enjoys-and…DO NOT INCLUDE NUTS IF YOU KNOW THE RECIPIENT IS ALLERGIC TO THEM.

Another consideration with the current percentage of adults developing diabetes is the use of dips in edible fruit arrangements. Fortunately there are sugar free dips available, so if you know you are sending a fruit arrangement to a diabetic, make sure you choose one of the sugar free dips. Since vendors of fruit arrangements may not be in a position to make this adjustment, you may need to make those fruit arrangements yourself-make sure you ask the vendor before you place your order. Some people are also allergic to dyes, so this may eliminate the use of food coloring in edible fruit arrangements as well.
