Tips for Creating A Beautiful Fruit Arrangement

If you have an event coming up and you want to create a truly unique and fun decoration you can make your own fruit arrangement. Fruit baskets and fruit arrangements are beautiful and practical decorations for any event. Making a fruit arrangement is easy and far less expensive than using flowers or candles to create decorations and centerpieces. Order several boxes of mixed seasonal fresh citrus fruit, like oranges and grapefruits, and then order a few boxes of gourmet fruit like Honeybells or Clementines and you can create a unique decoration for your event that will have your family and friends raving. Here are some tips to create your own beautiful fruit arrangement:

Always use fresh fruit – The fresher the fruit is the better it will look. Since the appearance of the fruit is a critical part of the decoration order the fruit directly from a grower instead of getting it at your local market. Fruit shipped directly from the grower will hold up better and last longer than other fruit. Most supermarket fruit ends up sitting in trucks during shipping for more than a week, but fruit shipped directly from the grower usually arrives at your home within a day or two of being picked.

Use a unique container – Half of the appeal in a beautiful fruit arrangement is the container. Think outside the box, or basket, and choose a unique container that fits into the theme of the event. For a wedding you could use paper mache bells, or a container that has photos of the couple glued on it, or a container that is meaningful to the couple like a bowl from the table of a restaurant where they went on a first date. For anniversary parties or work affairs an elegant crystal bowl, or a unique porcelain handmade bowl will draw attention to the fruit in a positive way. For summer parties a picnic basket packed with fruit makes an easily portable and decorative fruit arrangement container.

Add more than just fruit – While citrus fruit should be the focus of the arrangement you can add in other fun treats to create an entirely different look and set the theme of the decoration. Gourmet chocolates, bread and cake mixes, preserves in a crystal jar or glass, sorbet in a chilled container, or berries and other vividly colored fruits can all add a lot of dimension to a fruit arrangement. The only limit is your imagination!
