Cara Cara Margarita Recipe

The Hale Groves Team

If you are looking for the perfect Cinco de Mayo celebratory beverage or just creating your own happy hour specials from scratch nothing beats enjoying a weekend or evening with an ice-cold margarita. Served on the rocks or frozen, a margarita is an awesome choice for any occasion or environment.

There are many stories as to how this wonderful drink came to be.

According to some, the margarita was created by a bartender named Don Carlos Orozco in 1941. As he was experimenting with some drinks, the daughter of a German ambassador visited the bar and he offered the refreshing beverage to her. Since she was the first to taste his creation, he named it after the ambassador?s daughter Margarita.

Another claim was made by the owner of Tijuana restaurant Rancho La Gloria, Carlos ?Danny? Herrera. He claimed the he concocted Margarita for the picky dancer Marjorie King who was allergic to all spirits except for tequila but did not like drinking it straight so he had to find a work around and give her a drink she would enjoy??. a margarita.

Many more claims were made about who really created this drink, and many more will follow. Its origin might be a bit obscure but one thing is for sure: it is fantabulous!
