The combination of sweet juicy Florida peaches or Farm Fresh Nectarines and rich silky cream is a match made in heaven. Our Homemade Ice Cream recipe blends these complimentary flavors to create the coolest of summertime desserts. The texture of this DIY ice cream is soft and velvety, and the fresh peaches or nectarines add a burst of sweet fruit to every spoonful. The natural flavors of the peaches or nectarines are enhanced by fresh squeezed orange juice, making a frozen treat that is both decadent and refreshing. You will need an ice cream maker and about 3 ½ hours from start to finish, but very little of that time is active preparation.
Making this home-made ice cream is actually quite simple and requires only a few ingredients, including fresh peaches or nectarines, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, a ripe orange, milk, and cream. The peaches/nectarines are peeled and pureed before being added to the cream mixture, creating a smooth and silky base that is perfect for freezing. Once the ice cream is churned, it can be served immediately or stored in the freezer for later. The result is a delicious and refreshing dessert that is perfect for enjoying at home on movie night or sharing at your next get together. Home-made peach ice cream is not only delicious, but it’s also a great way to make use of fresh seasonal produce and create a dessert that is both natural and satisfying. Make some today and enjoy.
Ingredients
3 to 4 Fresh Ripe Petite Florida Peaches or Farm Fresh Nectarines (to make 3 Cups of puree)
Juice of 1 Large Ripe Orange (seeds removed)
Juice of 3 Lemons (seeds removed)
3 Cups Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Quart Whole Milk
1 Pint Heavy Cream
Directions
Start with peaches/nectarines and citrus that are room temperature (not chilled). Peel and seed the peaches/nectarines and add to a blender pitcher. Blend on low to medium-low speed until smooth. You want to end up with about 3 cups of peach puree, but this amount need not be precise. Add the sugar, vanilla, orange juice, and lemon juice and blend for 5 to 10 seconds on the slowest setting to combine. Place the lid on the blender pitcher and allow the mixture to stand at room temperature for three hours.
After sitting, pulse the blender 3 or 4 times to remix the ingredients, then transfer the juice mixture to a large pitcher, add the milk and cream and stir well. Pour into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the appliance’s instructions.
Tips
Serve topped with peach slices and finely chopped mint leaves.
Store in the freezer in an air-tight plastic container for up to a week.
