This cozy fall recipe gives you the succulent flavor of apple pie without the hassle of preparing a crust! Sweet spices blend with soft, caramelized fruit to fill your home with the rich smell of baking while this dish is warming in the oven…enjoy it on its own as a side or top it with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra-special treat!


  • 4 Hale Groves Orchard Fresh Apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • ¼ c. light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. cloves
  • ⅛ tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice)


  1. Preheat oven to 350° Place apple slices in a 2-quart baking dish and add brown sugar, spices, salt, cornstarch, lemon juice and vanilla.
  2. Cut butter into small pieces and scatter over top of apples.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes. Stir, then continue baking until apples are soft and tender (about 15 minutes).
  4. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
