Even the name of these tasty treats sounds sumptuous! Sweet Bing cherries, decadent dark chocolate, a warm and chewy blondie base…this easy-to-make summertime dessert will be the first to disappear at your potluck picnic, so be sure to make plenty.
Ingredients:
1 c. Hale Groves Sweet Mountain Bing Cherries, pitted
½ c. unsalted butter, melted (1 stick)
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. all-purpose flour
¼ tsp. salt, optional
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350° Line 8”x8” pan with foil and spray with cooking spray; set aside.
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt butter (about 60 seconds), then add brown sugar; stir to combine. Add egg and vanilla; stir to combine. Add flour and salt and stir until just combined (do not overmix).
- Fold in chocolate chips and cherries (you can either half the cherries first or leave them whole) and pour batter into prepared pan, smoothing it lightly with a spatula. Bake until edges begin to pull away from pan slight and center is set (about 27-32 minutes).
- Let bars cool for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature, in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
