Nothing makes mornings more exciting than homemade waffles. These Spiced Pear Waffles are easy to make and they can also be frozen then warmed up for a fast breakfast treat. Make a batch to warm up your next morning, and enjoy this sweet fall favorite.

The ingredients are common and any time you have fresh pears, all you need is a waffle maker and you are ready to serve up these tasty Spiced Pear Waffles.

Ingredients

2 Cups all-purpose Flour

1 tsp Salt

2 tsp ground Cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground Nutmeg

4 tsp Baking Powder

1/2 Cup dark Brown Sugar

4 Eggs

2 Cups Buttermilk

1/2 Cup Butter, melted and cooled

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

3 Pears, peeled, cored and chopped fine

Cooking Spray

Directions

In a large bowl, add flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, and brown sugar. Whisk together until combined.

In a second bowl combine eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla, and mix lightly until well blended. Do not beat vigorously. Add the blended egg mixture into the bowl with the flour mix and stir until just combined.

Fold in the diced pears and set aside. Preheat the waffle iron. Spray the waffle maker top and bottom plates with cooking spray. Spread the batter evenly over the bottom waffle maker plates (about 1/2 Cup per waffle) and close. Cook according to the waffle maker instructions, or until the waffles are browned, crisp, and done throughout.

Repeat until all waffles are finished, spraying waffle maker plates with cooking spray each time. Serve with syrup, whipped cream, chopped pears, or any of your favorite toppings. These homemade Spiced Pear Waffles are also great for dessert when topped with ice cream. Freeze left over waffles and reheat in the toaster oven for a quick breakfast. Enjoy.

Tips

Make ahead of time and freeze in an airtight plastic container for up to several weeks.

Top with chopped pears cooked with butter and cinnamon for added pear flavor.

Make this recipe with apples instead of pears for a spiced apple version.
